개인적으로 판타지 소설 별로 좋아하지 않는데...

J.R.R. Tolkien이 'the lord of the rings' 전에 쓴 호빗입니다.
'the lord of the rings'에 잠깐 잠깐 등장하는 프로도의 삼촌 빌보 배긴스의 모험 이야기이죠. 책 표지의 저 뚱보도 아마 빌보일 겁니다.

표지에 골룸(호빗에서 처음 등장)과 빌보가 보이는군요.

반지의 제왕 보다는 덜 심각하고 동화스럽지만 상당히 깊이 있는 스토리입니다.
간달프도 매우 중요한 역할로 등장하지요.

이번에 2부작으로 영화화한다는 이야기도 들었습니다.

예전에 종로 도서관에 번역판이 있었더랬습니다.
당시에 한창 판타지 소설 볼 때여서 마치 보물을 건진 것 마냥 즐거웠던 기억이 납니다.

책이 너무 너덜거려서 창고로 들어갔다는 얘기를 듣고 무척 아쉬웠는데, 요즘에는 아주 새책으로 잘 출판되어 나왔더군요-_-
