IP 추적은 어떻게?

문득, 궁금해지네요.

누군가 인터넷에 어떤 글을 남겼을때 그 글을 쓴 시점의 IP는 사이버수사대에서 어떻게들 추적하는걸까요?
즉,
그 사이트 서버에 남은 기록에 의존하지 않고 그런것이 가능한지 궁금한것입니다.
대한민국 모든 인터넷 트래픽을 다 어디선가 로깅해 놓지 않은 이상 글이 올라간 서버의 데이터 (개인정보, 로그 등) 를 활용하지 않고서는 추적하기 어려울것 같은데..

먼저 whois를 통해 ip를 관리(사용)하는 isp를 알아낸 후에 해당 isp를 족쳐서 알아내지 않나 싶습니다.

영장없이 isp에서 알아내는건 불법입니다.
