[해결] ATI Radeon Driver 인식불능 (VMWare)

안녕하세요~

System : Sony VAIO CR35L/R,
VGA : ATI Radeon Mobility X2300
Linux : Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron

사용자 실력 : 이제 막~ 입문하는 단계...입니다.

[질문1] 설치시에 기존파티션은 보존할수 없을까요?

데탑은 그렇지않은데, 이 노트북은 이상하게도...

설치시 기존 파티션을 무시하고 전체로 잡아버리네요.

노트북 복구 파티션 포함해서 사용중인 파티션들이 몽땅 날라갈까 두려워서 포기하고,

지금은 VMWare 로 돌리고 있습니다.

[질문2] ATI Driver 가 쉽사리 안 잡혀주네요...

여기저기 돌아다녀보니, 저처럼 다들 ATI Driver 가 잘 안잡히는 문제로 고생이 많더군요.

그런데 다른 사람들의 답변으로는 제 문제가 해결이 안되어서 이렇게 질문드립니다.

fglrxinfo 로 보면...

display: :0.0  screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: Mesa project: <a href="http://www.mesa3d.org" rel="nofollow">www.mesa3d.org</a>
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect
OpenGL version string: 1.4 (2.1 Mesa 7.0.3-rc2)

...이렇게 X2300 이 안잡히고 저렇게 나옵니다.

여러 참조한 방법중 하나로...

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt-get install linux-restricted-modules-$(uname -r)
sudo apt-get install xorg-driver-fglrx
sudo depmod -a
sudo aticonfig --initial
sudo aticonfig --overlay-type=Xv
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart

...였는데요, aticonfig 명령어에서...

Data incomplete in file /etc/X11/xorg.conf

xorg.conf 에 뭔가 문제가 있었는데, 바로 그 파일 내용이 텅~ 비어있었습니다.

너무나 깨끗해서 잠시 당황을...

http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Ubuntu_Hardy_Installation_Guide 에서 참조하여,

그래서 어쩔지 모르다가 Driver "fglrx" 를 무작정 추가해보고,

혹시나해서 다른 X2300 유저의 파일 내용을 복사 붙여넣는 만행도 저질러 보았지만,

그 결과는 저해상도 모드로 진입이 되어 해상도가 800x600 로 되더군요.

EnvyNG 란 것도 발견하고 설치해봤으나, 다시 저해상도모드...읔

하드웨어 드라이버에서 설치하신분도 계시길래,

가봤더니 '이 시스템은 독점 드라이버를 사용하지 않습니다.' 라고 역시 아무것도 없더군요.

어떻게 해야 할까요?

VMWare로 돌리신다면 실제로 무슨 그래픽카드를 사용하든지 간에, VMWare tools를 설치해야 합니다. VMWare 안에서는 가상 그래픽 카드를 사용하는 방식입니다.

VMWare Tools를 설치하니, 해상도가 정상적으로 잡히네요~

그런데, VMWare로 Compiz는 못돌리나보군요.

이에관한 글도 안보이고, vmx 파일 설정에서 3D가속켜도 안되는것 같네요.

음..일단 VMWare로 좀 익히고 실제로 돌려봐야 겠군요.
