load average라는게..

top의 man page를 보면 이렇게 나와 있는데요..

The load averages are the average number of process ready to run during the last 1, 5, and 15 minutes.

그럼 실행대기하고 있는 프로세스의 평균수.. 라는건데.. ㅡㅡㅋ
..
보통 load가 1이 넘어가면 시스템이 버벅이던데.
..
그리고 I/O계열의 access.. 특히 디스크..
..
하면 load가 쭉쭉~ 올라가지 않습니까?..
..
이것은.. I/O가 cpu를 많이 점유하니까(다른거에 비해서.. )
..
suspend된. (?) process가 cpu할당을 기다리는 시간이 길어져서..
..
기다리고 있는 process의 수가 증가하는거로 보면 되는건가요?

말 그대로 CPU power를 사용하면서 살아 있는 process의 평균 수 입니다.
그래서 CPU가 1개 있는 system에선 이 값이 1 이상이 되면 부하가 CPU
처리량 이상이라는 말이 됩니다. 다시말해 CPU가 2개인 SMP system은
2까지는 괜찮은게 되는 거죠.
