Linux에서 system language설정과 application의 관계.

redhat 9을 사용하고 있습니다. 한글 입력때문에 언서 설정을 한글로 설정해 놓고 쓰고 있구요.

사용하는 PC가 사양이 좀 떨어지는 관계로 그놈 터미널 보다는 xterm을 사용하고 있습니다. 그놈 터미널 속도가 xterm보다 조금 답답하게 느껴져서요.

xterm을 사용하다 보니 시스템 언어를 한글로 설정해서 어플리케이션 메세지가 모두 한글로 나오는데 표시가 안됩니다. (그놈 터미널도 man 페이지 볼때는 모두 깨지더군요)

시스템 언어를 영어로 설정한 다음 '아미'나 기타 입력기를 사용하는 방법을 알고 싶구요. 그게 안된다면 xterm에서 만이라도 언어를 영문으로 설정하고 싶습니다.

방법이 있을까요?

터미널에서는 영문으로 동작하네요. 그런데 .bash_profile에 넣으니 동작하지 않네요. 부팅을 다시해야 되는건가요.

맞게 한건지 모르겠습니다.

레드헷 9에서 한글 맨페이지가 깨지는 것은 이곳 게시판에서 많이 다루어져 있습니다. 언어 설정의 문제가 아닙니다.

맨페이지를 볼 때 사용하는 less의 문제라고 하더군요.

xterm이 아니라 hanterm을 사용하면 되겠죠. 원래 xterm에서는 한글이 안보여야 정상이죠.

.bash_profile은 로그인시 로딩합니다.
로그아웃하고 로그인하면 바로 적용됩니다.
