DivX의 라이센스에 대해서 질문 드립니다.

회사라는 곳에서 일을 하다 보니 코드에 대해서만 알아서 되는게 아니라 라이센스나 특허 등, 법에 관계된 지식도 점점 중요해지네요.
질문은 간단합니다.
DivX 코덱(일단은 GPL로 공개되어 있더군요.)을 사용하는 동영상 재생 모바일 기기를 만들 때 코덱을 직접 개발해서 쓰면, 라이센스비를 절감할 수 있을까요?
지금까지 여러모로 찾아본 바로는 이런 식의 편법이 불가능하리라 여겨지긴 합니다만;;;
확실한 답변을 얻어보고자 질문 드리니 답변 달아주시면 감사하겠습니다.^^

Divx는 GPL이 아닙니다. Xvid가 GPL입니다.

그렇군요. 그럼 DivX는 무조건 라이센스를 사는 수밖에 없는건가요?
