1366x768 UBUNTU 설치 문제입니다.

미국에 출장왔다가 급하게 노트북을 하나 샀는데 비스타 깔려있습니다. 모델은 SONY VGN-NW150J 이고 해상도가 1366x768입니다. 가격대비 사양은 나쁘지 않습니다. 해상도가 구린것 빼고는 굿입니다.
듀얼부팅으로 UBUNTU (가지고 있는 CD는 8.04입니다. alternative아님!) 를 추가설치하려고 하는데 쩝.... 설치 CD 초기에는 화면이 보이다가 화면이 망가져버립니다.
현재 외부 모니터는 사용할 수 없는 환경이며 네트웍은 잘 붙습니다. 회사 노트북이랑 같이 쓰고 있는데 꼭 UBUNTU 설치하고 싶네요. bootargs 에 vga 모드를 적당한 값을 넣어주면 가능할까요?
1366x768 해상도로 검색을 해봐도 찾을 수 있는 정보는 "(일단 문제없이 설치하고 부팅한 뒤에) X 윈도우에 정확한 해상도 설정하기" 이런 것밖에 없네요.
일단 설치를 해야 조정이 가능할텐데 문제입니다. 좋은 하루 되세요.
