vncviewer에서 한글이 안되네요.

vncviewer를 설치하고 다른 컴퓨터의 리눅스 tigervnc 서버에 접속했습니다. 접속은 됐는데, 한글키가 먹히지 않습니다. 영문키는 제대로 되고요. 그래서 구글링을 해봤으나, 손쉽게 알아들을만한 답변은 없더군요. vncviewer 연결에서 한글이 작동되도록 할 수 없을까요. ibus-setup으로 콘솔에서 키보드 환경도 바꿔봤으나, 그것도 안됩니다. vncviewer은 원래 한글이 안돼나요? 되는 쪽으로 조언 부탁드립니다.
예전에 vncviewer 사용 중에는 한글이 안먹히는 상태로 되다가, 쓰다보니 또 한글이 됐던 적이 있습니다. 도대체 어떻게 된 일일지는 모르겠지만요...
