emacs에서 shell 실행시 텍스트가 이상하게 나옵니다

참고로 무식할 정도로 완전 초짜입니다.

최근에 VMware player 3.1로 Debian을 Guest OS로 설치해서 사용하고 있습니다.
시냅틱 관리자로 설치하니까 emacs 설치도 무난하게 되더군요. 다만 버전이 22.2.1 이라는 것 뿐 (23.x.x 로 가고 싶었지만 번잡해서 포기)

질문입니다.

M-x shell 을 수행하면, 텍스트에 ^[[ 같은 요상한 것들이 앞뒤로 붙어서 나와서
굉장히 가독성이 떨어집니다. 너무 불편하네요. (스샷 첨부합니다)

어떻게 해결할 수 있는지 조언 좀 부탁드립니다.

; shell 에서 ls 치면 컬러가 이상하게 나오는거 방지
(autoload 'ansi-color-for-comint-mode-on "ansi-color" nil t)
(add-hook 'shell-mode-hook 'ansi-color-for-comint-mode-on)

이거 추가해주세요.

말씀해주신 두 문장이 무엇을 구체적으로 하는지는 초짜인지라 전혀 모르겠으나...
아무튼 문제는 한 방에 해결되었네요.

항상 alias ls='ls -F' 이렇게 해서 color 없이 사용했는데, 깔끔하게 해결됐네요. ^^

emacs-snapshot 패키지가 있다면 그걸 쓰시는 편이 나을듯 하군요.
