어떤 것을 요구하는 것일까요?

안녕하세요.
예전부터 가끔씩 들어와 보긴 했는데, 처음 글을 남깁니다.

좀 엉뚱한 질문일 수도 있는데, 이야기 해 보겠습니다.

제가 수학쪽으로 미국대학원에서 공부를 하고 있는데, TA(조교)를 그만하고 싶어서 아래와 같은 RA를 지원해 보려고 하는데요. 어떤 것을 잘 하면 적임자가 될 수 있을까요?

저는 C언어는 미분방정식 그리고 행렬계산할 정도만 해요. 그냥, 수치해석에서 하는 정도.
리눅스는 지금 노트북에 설치해서 그냥 프로그램(C언어)할 때, 깔짝거리는 수준이에요. RPM 같은 것은 그냥 설치하고 지우는 수준이고 APM 같은 것은 설치만 한번 해 봤구요.

아래의 내용을 보시고 고수님이 생각하시기에 뭐를 준비하면 될까요?
제 수준으로 봐서는 첫번째 것을 공략해야 될 것 같긴한데...

Job Description: Develop and implement data aguisition and control modules. Develop software modules to control a robot manipulandum and acquire data from it. Kernel modules that run under RTLinux have been provided by the manufacturer, but they need to be integrated into a laboratory environment. The manipulandum is used for experiments dealing with haptic perception (the perception of shape from arm motion). The ideal candidate would develop the software and then conduct experiments using the software.
Qualifications: Knowledge of C-Programming and LInux is required. Familiarity with RTLinux is desirable.

Job Description: Specific duties will involve the implementation, refinement and of de-identification software (software for removing identifying features from MRI head/brain scans) and the evaluation of brain-tissue segmentation algorithms using qualitative and quantitative metrics.
Qualifications: Preferred candidate will have competency in C/C++, Unix/Linux, a scripting language such as Perl, the mathematical aspects of computer graphics and computational geometry, and numerical methods including optimization theory. In addition, he/she will be familiar with user interfaces and visualization toolkits. Experience with IDL, MATLAB and Java is desirable.
