800 X 600에서 해상도를 올리 수가 없어요

저는 유분투에 초보자 입니다.

저는 SIGMA Pro II라는 VGA CARD을 사용있습니다.
유분투에서 해상도를 올리기 위해 각종 유사한 방법을
여기 사이트에서 찾아 실행 해 보았지만

매번 ROOT 개정이나 SELunix 개정을 여기 유분투에서 요구 합니다.
혹시 제가 변종 유분투을 사용하고 있는지요?
아니면 잘 못하나?
원도우하고 는 다르군요!!

제가 수정하고자 하는 파일은
시스템파일에 있는 /etc/X11/에 있는 Xorg.conf파일입니다.
여기에서는 제가 이파일을 저장할 시
SELunix이라는 개정을 요구합니다.
적절한 방법이 무엇이 있을까요?

두번째로 재가 알고 싶은것은
로그인 화면에서 ROOT 개정으로 들어가는 방법입니다.
설치시 root 개정에 대한 Fedoro와 다르게 요구하지 않은 것으로
알고있습니다.

어렵게 이리 저리 vi에디터로 conf파일들을 보고 있습니다.
아니면 FEDORO 돌아가야 할 실정인가요.
