I've heard about the recent troubles regarding LDP and Debian from my
partner, who is on the Linuxchix mailing lists. Apparently, some people
on slashdot have been complaining about the quality and worth of the
LDP.

I'm just sending you this email as a little note of thanks.

I can't say if you've personally done anything that helps me; being a
collator is a fairly anonymous job, and these days I am a sufficiently
advanced user that I rarely refer to HOWTOs anymore. Yet, without those
HOWTOs, I doubt I would be as capable a Linux user as I am today, and it
is comforting to know that there is information freely available for
many topics I currently know little about. I am in debt to you. The
time and effort you and others spend in writing and maintaining these
documents is a generous and valuable contribution, and I thank you for
it.

Please feel free to pass this message on to any other people who help
maintain the LDP, because they deserve my thanks as well. It is too
easy to forget that there are people behind the vast wealth of
information sitting in my /usr/share/doc directory.
