질문) 프린터 설치(Kubuntu 6.04 _Dapper Drake_ - Alpha i386 (20060217.2))

배포판 : Kubuntu 6.04 _Dapper Drake_ - Alpha i386 (20060217.2)

문제 : 프린터 설정이 안됩니다.

경과 : hoary배포판에서는 한방(거짓없음)에 설정이 되었었는데요.
대퍼를 설치하고 아무근심없다가(과거를 보고 낙관) 막상 설치하려니 안되는군요.

현재증세
1) System Settings > Hardware / Printers 실행
2) 에러 다이알로그
캡션 : Error = System Settings
내용 : Unable to retrieve the printer list. Error Message
received from manager:
Connection to CUPS server failed. Check that the CUPS
server is correctly installed and running.
Error: host not found.

CPUS서버 세팅이 바르지 못해서, CUPS 서버에 접속을 못한다.
아마도 서버의 기본설정파일이 있고, 그 파일에서 명시된 호스트로의 접속이 불가하다는 얘기인듯 싶은데, 어느 파일/부을 손봐야 할까요?

영문 메뉴 기준으로 System settings -> Printers -> Printer Manager -> Configure Manager -> CUPS server 에서 호스트가 /var/run/cups/cups.sock로 되었으면 localhost나 127.0.0.1 로 바꾼 후에 프린터를 재 설치해 보십시요. 그리고 사용자 계정에 프린터를 사용할 사용자 ID를 넣습니다.

덕분에 잘 해결되었습니다.

프린터 설정이후 ,
오픈 오피스의 프린터설정이 generic 만 나와서 검색해보니
KDE 기반이 아닌 (예를들어 gnome 기반) 오픈 오피스, 파이어폭스 등의 프린터 설정은 달리 해주어야 하더군요.
(이 또한 자동으로 안되나? 아 ... 귀찮다.....)

하여간 제가 해결하는데 참고한 링크를 소개드립니다.

* Firefox
Go to File -> Print
Select PostScript/Default under Printer
Click on Properties
Change the Print Command to kprinter
Back to the previous screen and click Print
When the kprinter screen comes up, select CUPS (Common UNIX Print System) as the Print system currently used:
use fnprt.fnal.gov:631 as the print server.
once that is done, all the printer queues will show up under Name at the top of the kprinter screen. Pick one of your favorite printer and fire the job.
* OpenOffice
Bring up the printer administrator /usr/lib/openoffice/spadmin
Click on New Printer
Select Add a Printer and Click Next
Select a printer driver for the printer you are going to use. (I suspect anything is fine, kprinter should be able to take care of the driver)
enter kprinter as the printer command
The rest is the same as the intruction for Firefox
