[gentoo] startx 시 에러 메세지..

startx치며 이같은 에러가 나옵니다. 왜 그런가여 설명 좀

failed to initialize core devices 즉 입력장치가 제대로 구성되지 않은 겁니다. 보통 키보드는 잘 인식 되므로... 마우스에 이상이 있는 것이겠지요. Xorg.conf 파일을 열어 mouse 부근을 찾아 마우스 장치 파일의 경로 (/dev/input/mice 라든지 /dev/mouse 라든지)를 이리저리 바꿔보세요. 여러가지 상황에 따라 마우스가 잡히는 경로가 달라지거든요... cat /dev/input/mice 를 치고 마우스를 움직임으로써 그 경로에 마우스가 실제로 있는지 확인해 볼 수 있습니다.

를 참조하시고요, 위의 문서에서 1.4.81.1 Gnome 의 설치 부분을 보면 ...

cdimage / # /usr/X11R6/bin/XFree86 -configure 
... 
cdimage / # mv /etc/X11/XF86Config /etc/X11/XF86Config.backup 
cdimage / # cp /root/XF86Config.configure /etc/X11/XF86Config

이런 부분이 나오는데요, 젠투는 특별한 경우가 아니면 XFree86 이 아니라 Xorg 를 쓰기때문에, XF86Config 대신에 xorg.conf 라고 생각하시면 됩니다. 마찬가지로 /usr/X11R6/bin/XFree86 이 아니라/usr/X11R6/bin/Xorg(?) 일 겁니다. - 지금 집이 아니라 확답은 못하겠습니다. 저게 맞을 겁니다.

즉, Xorg -configure 라고 치면 ... 그 자리에 xorg.conf 라는 파일이 생기는데, 이걸 /etc/X11 디렉터리에 복사해 넣으면 된다는 얘깁니다.

그리고 조금만 더 손 보면 됩니다. 가장 많이 틀리는 게 VGA 카드 설정, 모니터 설정, 마우스 설정입니다. 마우스의 경우 휠마우스인데, 휠이 안 잡힌다라거나, 아니면 제대로 동작 안하는 건데요. 이건 /dev/mice 가 제대로 안되어 있거나 커널에서 마우스 설정이 안 되어 있거나 하는 경우입니다.

마우스 설정이 맞는데, X 가 안 뜬다면 보통 모니터 부분이 조금 틀어져서 그런 경우가 있는데, 조금만 손 보면 됩니다. 참고삼아서 제 xorg.conf 파일을 적습니다.

제일 아래쪽을 보면 mga 라고 되어 있는데, 이건 제 vga 카드가 G400 이기 때문이고, 중간쯤에 보면 Monitor 섹션이 나오는데, 거기에 있는 주파수는 모니터 마다 조금씩 다릅니다. Xorg -configure 는 저 부분과 VGA 카드를 찾아내는 거죠.
