EVDO모뎀을 이용한 데이터 통신시 연결문제..

안녕하세요
이번에 리눅스용 프로그램을 하나 짜는데 제가 리눅스 초짜라 모르는게 많아 이렇게 글을 남기게 됩니다.
리눅스에서 모뎀을 연결한후 at커맨드를 사용하여 네트워크에 연결한후 데이터 통신을 할려고 하는데
사용법을 검색한후
ATZ
AT+CRM=1 (or 131 or 150 or 160)
ATDT1501
이렇게 모뎀의 포트로 커맨드를 주면
CONNECT메시지와 함께 이상한 깨진듯한 문자들이 나옵니다.
그런후 제가 TCPIP를 통하여 특정한곳에 연결을 할려고 하면 연결이 실패합니다.
연결자체가 되지 않은것같습니다.
검색을 해보면 연결 관련 스크립트들이 있어서 그것을 봤는데
PPPD라는 프로그램을 통해서 연결을 하게 되는거 같은데
단순 ATDT를 사용해서는 연결이 되지 않는건가요??
윈도우 상에서도 위의 커맨드를 실행하면 연결이 안되더라구요..
스크립트를 쓰지않고 소스 코드상으로 연결을 하는 방법에 대한 조언을 부탁드립니다.
