커널컴파일후 ifconfig 에러...

레드햇 8.0쓰는데

레드햇 8.0 기본 제곰 커널로 부팅할경우 ifconfig가 정상 동작합니다.
그런데 2.4.19 커널을 구해서 컴파일해서 이걸로 부팅하면, ifconfig가 아래와 같은 에러를
냅니다. 그냥 ifconfig라고만 쳤을 때 말입니다.

그런데 ifconfig eth0 등으로 직접 지정해 주면 내용 잘 뜹니다.
신기한 것은 2.4.19로 부팅하지 않고 레드햇 기본 제곰 커널로 부팅하면
ifconfig가 예전처럼 멀쩡하게 뜹니다. 어떤분들은 랜카드 모듈 컴파일 안했냐고 하시는데,
커널 네트웍 관련 드라이버와 옵션들을 다 바꿔가면서 여러 번 컴파일했는데도 마찬가지입니다.

레드햇 사용자분들 중 이 문제 해결하신 분 답좀 부탁합니다.
