can't identify protocol의 의미.

종종 시스템 상태를 살펴보는데,
lsof를 사용하여, 특정 프로세스의 상태를 살펴보면, 다음과 같이 "can't identify protocol"과 같이
표시될때가 있습니다.

31127 apache 6u sock 0,0 40831570 can't identify protocol

구글링을 해본 결과, "can't identify protocol"과 같은 경우, lsof에서 TCP소캣인지.. UDP소캣인지
구분하지 못하거나.. 서버 소켓수준에서, accpet()가 올바르게 이루어지지 않을때.. 등등
정말 많은 글들이 올라와 있더군요. ^^;;;

lsoft를 통해서 표시되는, "can't identify protocol" 의 의미와, 어떤 상황에서 위와 같이 표시되는지
궁금합니다. ^^
