compaq 야바다 m700 노트북에 리눅스를 깔고 싶어요..T.T....

저는 compaq의 야마다 M700시리즈의 노트북을 가지고 있습니다.
그런데 윈도우와 리눅스를 같이 쓸려고 리눅스를 설치를 시작한지
벌써 일주일이 지났습니다.
T.T 그러나 어렵더군요.
일반 PC에 인스톨하는 방식으로 깔아봤더니 PC가 맛이 같습니다.
증상은 인스톨할때는 이상이 없더니 끝나고 reboot를 하니까 전원이 들어
오고
전혀부팅이 안되는 먹통이 됐습니다.
여러번 시도를 해봤지만 안되더군요..
제가 알기로는 노트북마다 그 방식이 전부 다르다던데
방법을 알고 싶습니다.
알고계면 답이나 조언을 부탁합니다..
