Vendors team to put a good face on Linux

HOPING TO HASTEN the adoption of both Linux and its upcoming Linux-
based graphical interface, Eazel and Linuxcare have announced a
partnership to provide support services.

The deal calls for Linuxcare to provide e-mail-based support
services to users of Eazel's Network User Environment, which
includes Eazel Services and the much-anticipated Nautilus client for
Linux-based desktop systems. The project for the upcoming interface
is being headed by Andy Hertzfeld, the renouned designer of Apple
Computer's Macintosh interface.

"I think we are completely aligned with Eazel's efforts to make
computers easier to use. Our customer service efforts will support
Eazel's efforts to build a superior user experience that leverages
the possibilities of the Internet," said David Sifry, Linuxcare's co-
founder and CTO.

"Working together I think we can ensure that our customers receive
reliable e-mail support, fast answers, and a better all around
computing experience than they have had before," said Stan
Christiansen, Eazel's vice president and general manager.

A preview of Mountain View, Calif.-based Eazel's Internet services
and the Nautilus client, which will be integrated into version 1.4
of the Gnome windowing system, can be downloaded at www.eazel.com.

Linuxcare, based in San Francisco, also will maintain a Linux
knowledge base at www.eazel.com by capturing documentation and
software updates in addition to managing and updating support for
