ftp 파일 전송과 서버 다운 현상

Fedora Core 3으로 서버를 돌리고 있습니다.

그런데 집에서 ADSL 회선을 통해 ftp로 500MB 정도 크기의 파일을 서버에 올리려고 하면, 100MB 정도 가다가 전송이 끝납니다.
(참고로, 서버는 100Mbps 랜에 연결돼 있습니다.)

게다가 서버가 20~30분 동안 접속도 되지 않습니다. ftp 서버뿐만 아니라 홈페이지(http)도 접속이 되지 않더군요.

서버가 죽었나 싶다가도, 일정 시간이 지나면 홈페이지 다시 뜹니다.
