오픈소스 gallery에 mod_rewrite 적용하는 방법

구글신과 야후신(?)께 도움을 요청하였으나 좌절한 관계로.. 여기에 질문 올려봅니다.

현재 gallery.kldp.org에 들어가면 말 그대로 '갤러리'가 있는데요..-_-;
각 앨범별로 주소(URL)를 보면 gallery.kldp.org/album01 이런 식으로 되어 있습니다.

그걸 어떻게 하는 건가 보니 mod_rewrite를 이용한 거라고 하더군요. 그런데, 갤러리를 설치할 때부터 .htaccess를 사용가능하게 하라는 둥, mod_rewrite를 쓸 수 없다는 둥 나오더니 적용이 안 됩니다. (물론 아파치에서 mod_rewrite 로드한 상태고 .htaccess 사용가능하며, 심지어 수동으로 .htaccess 파일을 편집해서 RewriteRule을 적어주어도 작동합니다. 그러나 갤러리는 자체적으로 .htaccess 파일을 자동 생성해서 사용하죠.. 당연히 퍼미션은 그에 맞게 되어 있구요. 그리고 수동 생성할 경우 갤러리 이름이 아닌 일반 파일명까지 전부 다 rewrite되어서 사이트 자체가 안 뜹니다. 이거 설정하는 방법이라도 있으면 좀..ㅠ)

사용 환경은 Debian 3.1 sarge stable, Apache 2.0, PHP 4.3.10입니다.

덧. gallery.kldp.org 관리하시는 분이 누구신가요? 그분한테 직접 여쭤보는 게 빠를 것 같은데..-_-a
