RealTak 8169 설치

안녕하세요

GA-8IPE 1000 시리즈의 마더보드에 내장된 Realtak 8110S 기가비트 랜카드를 설치하려고 합니다. OS는 WS 3.0인데 설치를 하고 나면 system setting의 network 정보란에 RTL-8169라고 OS에서 하드웨어를 인식합니다. 해서 이 디바이스에 IP를 부여하고 활성화를 하면 network이 가동됩니다. 문제는 이렇게만 하면 이 카드의 기가비트 설정이 완료된 건지 잘 모르겠다는 겁니다.

해서 RealTak 홈페이지에서 커널 2.4.와 2.6에 해당하는 드라이버를 가져다가 설치해봤습니다. 그랬더니 이미 r8169.o파일이 /lib/modules에 있다고 하면서 insmod r8169 media = 0x10 같은 기가빗 설정이 먹지를 않습니다. 그리고 시스템을 rebooting하니까 booting 과정에서 netdevice가 free가 될때까지 기다린다는 메시지와 함께 다음 과정으로 넘어가지를 않고 있습니다.

제 커널이 2.4.21인데 이미 커널이 이 디바이스를 인식해서 잡고 있는 상황에서 또 make clean modules install 같은 작업을 해서 디바이스를 설정하니까 서로 충돌이 나는것 같습니다. 맞는지요?

혹시 경험이 있으신 분들이 있으시면 알려주시면 감사하겠습니다.

# depmod -a 명령으로 모듈의존성 체크를 해보세요

현재 디폴트로 잡히는 디바이스로 네트워크는 작동하고 있습니다
말씀하신데로 확인해 보니까 아래와 같은 메시지가 나네요.

이제 어케 해야 하는지 ......

[msi@Gold1 ~]$ depmod -a
depmod: Command not found.
[msi@Gold1 ~]$ /sbin/depmod -a
depmod: Can't open /lib/modules/2.4.214.EL/modules.dep for writing

Root 권한으로 실행하셔야죠.

루트로 실행하니까 이케 나오네요.......
