처음 젠투 리눅스를 만들고 적은 인원으로 멋진 패키지 관리방법을 소개해서 많은 리눅서들을 불타오르게 했었는데. 젠투 리눅스 책임자 자리에서 물러나는군요. /.에서 보니 물러나기 전에 미리 비영리 재단을 만들고 거기에 젠투 관련 Copyright를 다 넘겼다는군요. 넘기기로 했다 쯤 될지도.. 앞으로 무슨 일을 할 지, 잘 되길 빕니다.

bdowne01 writes "Gentoo Linux has experienced rapid growth in the past year--much to the credit of Daniel Robbins, the founder and Chief Architect of the project. Earlier today, he announced his resignation from his role on the gentoo-nfp mailing list." Tester adds " But before leaving, he has set up a non-profit foundation that will own all of the copyrights to Gentoo. The initial board of trustees will be appointed by Daniel, but next year they will be elected. The membership of the foundation will be open." Reader burnitall points out a note on the Gentoo homepage reading "... We are extremely sad to see Daniel Robbins depart, and we both wish him the best in his new endeavors and promise that the door will always be open for his return." Robbins' message also indicates he hopes to continue working on the release engineering aspect of Gentoo.

Hi All,

As of today, I am resigning from my development responsibilities for Gentoo.
This includes my role as Chief Architect and as manager of release
engineering. I am not appointing a replacement Chief Architect. For releng,
Zhen is doing an excellent job leading this effort and I would like him to
be able to continue his work in this area.

Gentoo Linux's Chief Architect, Daniel Robbins, announced today
that he is resigning from his development responsibilities for
Gentoo. Drobbins will be staying with Gentoo until the not-for-
profit (NFP) organization is established, at which point the newly-
chosen NFP board of directors will take over governance. We are
extremely sad to see Daniel Robbins depart, and we both wish
him the best in his new endeavors and promise that the door will
always be open for his return.
