kernel upgrade 2.6.1 -> 2.6.2

kernel upgrade 2.6.1 -> 2.6.2 을 하려고 합니다.

레드햇 9.0을 사용중 2.6.1로 커널 업그레이드를 해서 잘 사용도중,
새로운 버전이 나와서 다시 2.6.2로 업그레이드를 했는데, 컴파일하고 모듈 인스톨 까지 무사히 마쳤는데, 리부팅을 하니 바로 커널 패닉이 나더군요.
메세지를 보면 VFS가 root device를 찾지 못한다고 하면서 mount할 수 없다는 메세지와 함께 kernel panic이 나더군요...
커널 컴파일 옵션에서 ext2, ext3를 모두 커널안에 넣었는데 왜 그런지 알수가 없네요..

2.4.20-8(레드햇9.0) 에서 2.6.1은 잘 되었는데, 2.6.1에서 2.6.2는 왜
안되는지 알수가 없네요..
changes에도 별 특이한 사항은 없는것 같던데... 제가 잘못 읽었을 수도 있구요.
저와 비슷한 경험을 하신 분이 있으시면 답변 부탁드립니다.

잘은 모르겠지만
저도 비슷한 경우가 있었는데
거의 모든 옵션을 다선택하고 필요한것을 다깔았는데도
램디스크 크기를 작게 잡아줘서 안되었던 적이 있었습니다
커널 옵션중에 램디스크 크기가 몇으로 되어 있는지요
.config 파일을 편집하셔서 아래 옵션값이 몇인지 확인해 보세요
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_RAM_SIZE=4096
기본값은 4096이라네요. 이걸 좀 크게 잡아 줬더니
잘 되더라구요 (전 64000되어 있습니다. 얼마가 적당량인지는 잘...)

또 커널 옵션중에 block device 옵션 안에 램디스크 관련 옵션이 있습니다.
저두 아직 잘 몰라서 비슷하다 싶은건 다 체크하구 컴파일 했습니다.
