웹서버가 작동중인지 확인하는 방법? 부탁드립니다.

리눅스에서 다른 웹사이트10군데 정도의 웹사이트가 제대로 작동중인지
확인하는 걸 만드는데 리눅스 프로그램은 대학에서 잠시 공부한게 전부여서
지금 막막합니다. 일본이라 책 구하기도 힘들고...
먼저 씨로 할지 펄로 만들어야할지, 스크립트로 만들수 있는지.
사이트에서 다시 아이디, 비번을 입력해서 제대로 페이지가 나오면
서버가 살이있다고 봅니다. 이때는 로그파일에 날짜와 서버명을 적고,
페이지가 나오지 않으면 메일을 보내야 되는 겁니다.
어디를 보고 공부해야할지, 비슷한 소스는 어디에서 구할 수 있는지
정말 맨땅에 헤딩이라는 걸 느낍니다. 많은 조언 부탁드립니다.

웹서버가 작동중인지 확인한다는 말자체가 좀 애매한듯 느껴집니다.

정말로 단순히 웹서버가 살아있는지의 확인이라면 그건 쉘스크립트만으로도
어느정도 쉽게 구현될거라고 생각되고요.

armdry3님의 질문을 보니 사이트에서 로그인, 비번을 입력해서 제대로
페이지가 나와야 살아있다고 판단하신다고 했는데 이건 웹서버 문제가 아니라
해당 웹서버의 위에서 어떠한 웹프로그램이 제대로 움직이고 있는지를
확인하는 문제네요.

이경우는 해당 웹프로그램이 어떤 랭귀지로 만들어 졌는지 (PHP,JSP,CGI,
기타 등등) 그리고 DB는 무엇을 쓰고 있는지... 에 따라서 상당히 달라지는
문제가 아닐까 생각됩니다.
