커널 2.6에서 기대할수 있는것은?

저는 리눅스 초보자라 커널 2.6이 나온다니까 커널 2.4에서 달라진 점등이 궁금하네요. 예를 들어 성능에 대한 것 같은거요,, 일반 사용자들이 얻을수 있는 장점에는 어떤게 있나요?
