시디로 부팅않고 업그레이드 할수없나요?

다름이 아니라..
text base로 리눅스(레드햇9)를 깔았는데요.
X윈도우를 깔려구 하니까 하나하나 RPM으로 깔려구 하니 의존성이다 뭐다 힘든게 많더군요.
그래서 upgrade할려구 하니까 cdrom이 말썽이더라구요.

구형이라서 DMA를 지원 안하는데..
시디로 부팅하고 설치 모드에서 업그레이드 하니까 시디롬이 읽히지가 않더군요.. (그냥 새로설치하면 잘되는데..)
구래서 cdrom 마운트 하구요(DMA기능끄구요) 설치 시디로 업그레이드 가능한지 해서요?

윈도우처럼 설치 시디 넣구 인스톨하는 방법 없나요?

아니면 시디로 부팅시 DMA기능 끄고 설치 모드로 진입할수있는 방법이라도 있나요?

답변 부탁드립니다. 리눅스 어렵네요.
