perl과 mysql연동

solaris 10에서 mysql과 연동하는 간단한 스크립트를 짜려고 합니다.
현재 추가적인 모듈 설치는 불가합니다.
예를 들어 DBI 같은거요.

보통 쉘프로그램에서 here document를 이용해서
mysql query를 만들었습니다만 좀 복잡한 기능이 있어
perl을 이용하려고 하는데...
here document 같은 것을 이용해서 연동이 가능할까요?
