xpopup 같은 메신저 관련..

회사에서 시험삼아 제 컴을 리눅스로 설치했습니다.
불편한 점을 잘 극복하고자 하는데 한가지 문제가 있습니다.
사내에서는 직원들간에 xpopup메신저를 사용중인데 저는 와인을 이용해서
xpopup을 사용했었거덩요....근데 이게 아피주소를 192.xx 로 설정을 해줘도 계속
128.xxx.xx... 로 되어버려서.. 상대방이 저에게 쪽지를 보낼수 가 없는거에요..
xpopup 크기도 얼마안되고(467k)하니..이참에 리눅스용으로 하나 만들어볼가 생각하다..
C언어사용한지도 오래되었고.. 수치해석쪽으로만 프로그래밍을 하다보니..네트워크쪽으로
할수있을까 걱정이 되네요..
몇가지만 확인해보고 판단해볼렵니다.

혹시 이미 리눅스용으로 만들어진 xpopup 같은 메신저가 있는지요?
xpopup이 네트워크상에서 어떻게 이동되는지 확인하는 방법이 있을까요?
그리고 하다못해 c 언어경험만 있는상황에서 Gui 로 간다면.. gtk가 무난할려나요?

당장 급한건 아니라서 천천히 공부한다는 생각으로 하나 만들어볼까합니다.....^^;;
좋은교재도 추천해주심 고맙구요...
