Privacy concerns in Europe?!
Evilcoder.org says:
Last period I read a lot of articles regarding the privacy in Europe, and that we are seeing similiar things as in China. China is a dictorial regime, where a few people tell what will happen and what will not happen. A bit like Europe’s Hitler a while ago. Basically it’s the same as “democracy” [...]

@Play: Cause For Incursion
DragonFly BSD Digest says:
The newest @Play column talks about yet another roguelike I’ve never heard of: Incursion. (Too much Zangband on my part.) Apparently it follows 3rd edition Dungeons and Dragons rules quite carefully, which is different than the usual vague Tolkienish/D&Dish look that most roguelikes keep. Check the supplement at the bottom for some literary history.

Firewall Builder
A Year in the Life of a BSD Guru says:
Back in 2006, I wrote Building a Desktop Firewall and Sharing Internet Connections which demonstrated the ease-of-use of using fwbuilder. fwbuilder is my favourite way of teaching the logic of ipfw, pf, and ipfilter rulesets to novice students using a gui which is similar in look and feel to the Checkpoint interface they are likely to come across in the field.

Open-Source Innovation for New Business Models
tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6134990750731157418 says:
The International Journal of Information and Decision Sciences has issued a call for papers for an upcoming special issue entitled Open-Source Innovation for New Business Models:
While [open source] communities are becoming important sources of new knowledge and innovation, it is a challenge to create business value out of such innovation because the participants are novices, collaborating without any meaningful organisational structure. Thus, it is important for both academicians and practitioners to explore innovative approaches to exploiting the value of collaborative open-source communities for developing new business models and value creation.
The focus of this Special Issue will be on the use of open-source innovation to foster knowledge creation and sharing, capture opportunities for developing new products and services, redesign the value chain for efficiency improvement, reinvent the concept of customer value, and expand the customer base. New business models that bring benefits to both participants and the organisation are the real core value of open-source innovation.
Submissions are due by April 1, 2009.
